Phaebol was previously a denizen of the Nightmare Zone, but had been exiled before the events of Twilight Window. She had broken one of the kingdom's laws about seeking out a client that wasn't hers, and furthermore attempting to contact her personally, which was strictly forbidden. She was caught leaving the dream and then exiled by the King's right-hand assistant himself, and presumed to be dead;it is widely believed that being forced through a portal in the Twilight Window causes the victim to be blasted to death by the energy let off by a portal, only survivable by figures of authority.
 
Phaebol's client in the Nightmare Zone had been a young boy named Basil, but she had always had a distaste for harming children in any way, and rather quickly had turned to more risky acts of seeking out new clients. One in particular, a girl named Aspen, had caught her attention and affections, and she made a dangerous habit of visiting her often.

Phaebol had lived a decent life in the Nightmare Zone, taught by her elderly guardians how to sew using her ability to generate needles from her fingers. She had since had a passion for crafts and doll-making, though resources of the sort were rare in the Nightmare Zone. She is one of the highest-tier Nightmares, being nearly invincible aside from a few lethal weaknesses. She is extremely flexible to the point where she appears to not have bones, and possesses no organs or blood whatsoever. She is able to sew her limbs back on if they are ever separated from her body. Phaebol is a kindly and compassionate soul with unconditional love for just about everyone. She is mostly patient with Starker's impulsiveness and Cato's timidness, and holds them both very near and dear to her figurative heart, though sometimes she can come off as a bit annoying and invasive with how sociable and sweet she likes to present herself as. 

Phaebol's Nightmare form is a much smaller, more doll-like version of herself that is unable to speak aside from eerily giggling, but she prefers her normal form since she sometimes worries about being stepped on or overpowered. She is significantly more powerful in her regular form anyway, with the fact she feels no pain and cannot be killed by most normal means. Her skin is made of cloth and her body is full of cotton stuffing.
